In June of that year his mortgage lender, Citibank, started foreclosure proceedings, saying the entire $1.72 million balance of his 2009 mortgage on the property was still unpaid, eight years after the loan was made. In January 2017, Briggs took an unusual step for a celebrity home seller: He appeared in a video tour of the house with the agent who was representing it at the time.
He retired from the team in September 2015 and put the Northfield house on the market the next September at just under $2.5 million.
